How To Find Your First Social Media Client

Fred shares the five things you should consider in getting to your ideal client on social media.

Many people new to freelancing have almost the same question. “How can I find my ideal client on Social Media?” Why? An ideal client would help them get to whatever goals they have in freelancing. An ideal client can also create a fantastic work experience. Whatever the ideal client is, there are a lot of things that need to consider.

So let me share to you five things to consider in getting to your ideal client.

First, Mindset. Your mindset, for me, is where it all starts. It’s never going to be a comfortable experience. And trust me, you will encounter a lot of setbacks when you want to start your online career. Remember that it is a continuous process. Finding and building your audience should become part of your daily activity.

I remember, I attended a seminar. That focuses on shifting your mindset when you want to transition into freelancing. Posts you make, activities on social media, and how you communicate online are in this process. You are always marketing yourself. The best way to reach your target audience is through social networking sites. And when you do this, you need to have that inner desire to win.

Second, Research. How much do you know your ideal client? What type of people are you targeting? Do you have a preferred client or business that you want to do? What are their hopes and dreams? What are their pain points? Do you know what social media platform they’re using? How much time do they spend online? Get all these information completely. When you do, create a strategic plan to reach out.

Third, Plan. It is best to plan the direction you want to go in. This step is so vital so you would know what’s next and to avoid being lost. Take the time before you go out there and prepare all of your assets. Create a strategic plan for how you are going to present yourself. Doing these things will make the whole process much easier for you. If you see that this isn’t working for you, check how you planned and did it. You need to review your process. If there are changes you need to do, do it.

Fourth, Content. The content you post on your social media profiles is essential. Doing this helps in establishing your authority, your voice, and your passion around your message. The content you post will be your social footprint. You may be starting, and you are just beginning to post on Facebook or Instagram. But without a strategy, your posts will be meaningless. If you are considering an online career, it is a must that you learn content marketing. It may be in the form of video, a short or long form content, images, art, etc.

Fifth, Engage. Yes, you need to engage. Engagement is the most exciting part of the process. You’ve done your research. Your content is in place. Engaging with your ideal clients is the part that you cannot skip if you want to attract the right client. “Connect with people. Build your network both online and offline.”

Before these ideal clients can find you, you’ve got to go to them. There are a lot of ways to do that. Go to your target audience’s Facebook group. Engage with other members! Do this by commenting, liking, asking and answering questions, giving value and sharing your insights on their posts. The more you join them in the conversation, the faster you will stand out and move to the “know, like and trust” level. But this strategy is only useful if you were able to build a relationship. And this is done by engaging with them on a regular basis. Remember that this you can accomplish this by providing consistent value to the group.

Do you have additional strategies to find a client that you want to add that will help other freelancers find clients on social media?
