Carsome Names Danny Chin As Group Chief Marketing Officer

Agency Veteran and Award-Winning Marketer to Spearhead Marketing Efforts for Carsome

Carsome, Southeast Asia’s leading online used car platform, has named Danny Chin as its newly-created role of Group Chief Marketing Officer. In his new role, Chin will lead all Carsome’s brand marketing, consumer marketing and trade marketing activities across the region with offices in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia. Danny will be reporting to the Group CEO and co-founder, Eric Cheng.

“His senior leadership position is key for our business growth as the brand continues to provide convenience to customers across the region through our services” said Eric Cheng. Prior to this, Chin was the Chief Marketing Officer at redONE, Malaysia’s first postpaid Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) before leaving the company earlier this year. His responsibilities at redONE included the growth of the consumer brand strategy, product marketing, retail marketing and consumer engagement which lead the company to achieve its 1 million postpaid customers in Sept 2018.

Chin brings with him close to 18 years of advertising and digital experience, where he has worked on various accounts from various industry categories such as telecommunication, consumer electronics, airline, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), financial, entertainment, luxury, automobile, beauty, retail and many more. Starting off at Universal McCann Malaysia where he was leading the digital marketing services division, he moved on to successfully establish and run multiple new business units in the digital forefront at Omnicom Media Group Malaysia.

After his stint at renowned agencies, he was recruited as Country Marketing Director for Huawei Technologies (Consumer Business Group) in Malaysia before he was transferred to Regional Marketing Director to lead regional brand strategies and marketing communication across seven countries (Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea).

“Danny’s marketing expertise, regional experience and brand know-how puts him in the most suitable position to elevate Carsome to greater heights,” said Cheng. “Throughout his career, Danny has demonstrated his ability to successfully execute innovative and award-winning marketing campaigns. He’s a natural fit to our team and to lead the marketing teams across the region as we continue to drive positive momentum in the business,” added Cheng.

Of the various marketing efforts, the ongoing ‘Choose Carsome’ campaign by the brand revolves around car-selling advocacy, where genuine customers have been featured on billboard ads around Klang Valley. Furthermore, the instantly memorable radio jingle which has been on Malaysian airwaves is quickly catching up with the social crowd, bringing attention to the #badadadumchallenge
