The former world silat champion, Dr. Sheik, is the CEO of Singapore Silat Federation. The main governing body for the sport concerning areas such as: the management of Silat activities, coaching, talent-scouting, coordinating competitions worldwide, and more. He is also a Coach and has been awarded the coach of the Year multiple times nurturing current athletes to glory.

In June 2019, he was bestowed with Doctorate of Humanity by the Academy of Universal Global Peace. Few months later he was conferred as a new Dato’ Seri by the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo.

Coming from a huge family of eight siblings, Dr. Sheik was always shy and an introverted kid. He gradually built strength and confidence with Silat where he accidentally discovered it with his group of friends at a mosque. His passion for Silat grew and it shaped his mindset to be disciplined, juggling four jobs while not compromising his daily training. As an athlete back then, having a good support system was difficult, what more not getting paid to train even if he’s representing the country. Despite all odds stacked against him, it has never dampened his spirit to push to be the first Silat world champion for Singapore.

In this episode, we talked more about his journey to becoming a world champion, how he developed a strong mindset, the importance of education, and more.
