Get To Know Izzat Azwar, CEO At FAMOUZ Marketing

Not only does marketing build brand awareness, but it can also increase sales, grow businesses and engage customers

Hello there, Izzat. Welcome to Marketing In Asia. From the top, share with our readers who Izzat Azwar is.

Absolutely! Well, my name is Izzat Azwar and most people know me as a digital marketer. A 26 year old hustler, motivated & hardworking type of digital marketer. Also, I founded FAMOUZ Marketing, a digital marketing agency that helps businesses to grow using digital marketing strategy across Malaysia.

Apart from that, I also enjoy investment & finance topics. Not too many fancy things about me. I’m quite a boring person to hangout with since I love to talk about business. But I do believe that one day I will speak in front of thousands of audiences, so that I can share my knowledge in the digital space.

Prior to FAMOUZ Marketing, you were a Growth Hacker. For those who aren’t familiar with this term, walk us through this.

Ok, Growth Hacking is not a very FAMOUZ word in Malaysia. But, in the United States it is popularly known and has high demand in the job marketplace. Growth hacking focuses solely on growth. It is usually used in relation to early-stage startups who need massive growth in a short time on small budgets.

What is a Growth Hacker? The goal of growth hacking strategies is generally to acquire as many users or customers as possible while spending as little as possible. A growth hacker is someone who uses creative, low-cost strategies to help businesses acquire and retain customers. Growth hackers tend to be obsessive, curious and analytical:

  • Growth hackers focus solely on strategies related to growing the business.
  • They hypothesise, prioritise and test innovative growth strategies.
  • They analyse and test to see what’s working.

How did FAMOUZ Marketing started?

Well, it started exactly when the COVID19 hit Malaysia. It’s not that I predicted COVID19 is coming but I left my 9-5 jobs just to start my FAMOUZ Marketing. Why? Simple. It is all because of my passion and love doing anything that is online related. So, eventually this was my starting point. By offering my services, I do believe that I can bring quality value and service to small businesses up to the ones that are already established.

Why FAMOUZ Marketing? It’s because I do believe the impact of digital is only halfway to the peak. Not even at the peak for now. You can see the demand from consumers that needs more information online every single second. If businesses are not going digital, they are in danger.

Izzat, your experience in marketing, especially in digital marketing and social media is to die for. My curiosity is killing me. Has marketing always been your passion?

Not really at first. To start with, when I was a kid, I enjoyed playing games. Especially online games. Counter-Strike, Dota 2, Warcraft, Ragnarok, and so many more. My passion for games continued until I was in college.

And then I was very fascinated on how Myspace, YM, MSN and many other online platforms can connect people without having any phones that you need to reload all the time. That’s where my curiosity in the digital world grew. Starting from my college days, I took Information Technology as my course and I enjoyed it a lot.

How I got into the digital marketing business? I started doing freelance website projects at first when I was in college and while I was still having a full-time job. And then I pivoted to social media as the demand was starting to change their true nature. So, if you ask me what my passion is, it’s actually in games and IT related things.

However, as time and experience grows, when you have projects, you see the results and data. That’s the reason why I love digital marketing and social media more than others. If you ask me now, yes! Marketing is my passion.

When it comes to marketing, what have your strategies for FAMOUZ Marketing been?

Interesting question. Strategy for FAMOUZ Marketing is 80% social media and online. We grew our business throughout the journey by feeding people with content. We post everyday in social media and our business blog so that people don’t forget our brand. You’re not a digital marketing agency if you are not in the digital world. That’s my motivation to my team. Nevertheless, we also still use traditional marketing methods such as networking and cold calling. I can’t deny that strategy also gives us a big impact, but most of the time, we market ourselves online.

If you have to choose between marketing and branding, which is crucial for your business, Izzat – why?

Tough choices. Both of them are important. But if I had to choose, I would still go for marketing. Marketing is one of the most important things a business can do. Not only does marketing build brand awareness, but it can also increase sales, grow businesses and engage customers. While branding we can do it along the way. But I must put priority as my top choices. That’s what I stand for.

Going forward, what can we expect from FAMOUZ Marketing?

Yes, and I’m very keen to answer this as there’s so much to come. We are aiming to help more than 100++ businesses this year from their marketing strategy, to executing it and producing the results. That’s my current mission that I always talk to myself before bed.

Apart from that, currently we are doing businesses that target the business or B2B. But I do have plans in 2021 where I would want to deliver my expertise in classes or courses. It will be helpful for people that want to learn digital marketing in a short period of time. Stay tuned!

Any advice you wish to share to our readers and aspiring marketers out there?

Keep on hustling and never give up! Never stop learning and always have faith in what you do. Digital marketing is not a simple subject. But once you understand it, you’re going to love it.
