Meet A Personality

Everybody, Meet Anish Ananth

I would say I’m a third culture kid

What are you up to lately?

I am currently the regional digital strategy lead at 2Stallions Digital Marketing Agency, which is an award-winning digital marketing agency and have been focusing on creating bespoke data-driven digital strategies for new and existing clients.

Where are you now?

In Sunny Singapore!

Tell us a bit about yourself?

I started my career in digital in the business development team at iProspect, which is one of the largest performance marketing agencies in the world. I quickly understood that I wanted to be involved in the strategy component of digital, going on to complete courses in digital marketing from UpGrad, one of the leading online education providers in India. I have over 5 years of experience in the digital space, working in a realm of different types of digital agencies such as creative, content as well as performance.

I would say I’m a third culture kid, having grown up in different parts of the world like India, Singapore, Dubai and the UK (hence, the slightly confused English accent).  Also, I have spent a fair bit of time working in Mumbai, India for 2 years at iProspect. I love experiencing different cultures, experiencing new places and meeting people from all over the world

Your zodiac?

I don’t read too much into this kind of stuff but I’m a Taurus if you do have to put a name to it.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?

I would say I’m a bit of both, a hybrid if you will. I enjoy the company of my friends and family but there are times where I enjoy my ‘me time’ a lot too.

Your official designation now is?

Regional digital strategy lead

Marketing is broad, what’s your specialty?

As my title would suggest, I focus more on the strategic side of marketing and believe in using data for all things marketing.

What do you love about Marketing?

I love being able to leverage data as well as tech to enable personalised strategies & campaigns which drive business results for brands.

What do you hate about Marketing?

I would not say hate- but something that is one of my pet peeves is when marketers focus too much on vanity metrics rather than business results.

When thinking, you’d like to be alone or with people?

I love being in a group and bouncing ideas off the team.

Your ideas, most of them came from?

Most of my ideas come from the blogs I read.

Are you a digital nomad or office freak?

I would say it is a 50/50 for me. As working from home or other locations saves a lot of time for commuting but I do love and at times miss the in-person interactions with the teams.

Your favourite social media?

LinkedIn- There is so much interesting content on LinkedIn now which I really enjoy reading through.

What do you do when you’re not working?

I love watching football (big Manchester United Fan) and love console gaming too.

Who’s your marketing icon?

Simon Sinek. Love his thought process and approach to strategy.

What is the first thing you’d do when you’re hired/chosen to handle a new project?

I understand the main objectives as well as the deliverables & expectations for the client. After which, I come up with a plan that will enable us to meet these objectives and ensure that the client is happy.

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I’m more of a morning person

How do you stay motivated?

Something that keeps me motivated is working out, whether that is in the gym or even a quick 25 minute home workout.

Ever got ideas from movies or songs?

I would not say I have

The best book you’ve ever read.

I personally prefer reading blog articles as they tend to be slightly more relevant and up to date. However, I have recently started reading the book ‘good strategy, bad strategy’ by Richard Rumelt and I would highly recommend it.
