Karen Swyszcz graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry. She started Makinthebacon – a hobby blog back in 2012, to escape her monotonous day job. Over the years, it has evolved into a platform, initially providing content on personal finance, to now providing inspiration for entrepreneurs/aspiring entrepreneurs through blog posts and interviews.

She has partnered with brands such as Camp Tech, Minted.co and Meridian Credit Union on digital campaigns.

She has also interviewed CEOs in the areas of fintech and travel. Her blog also became the launchpad for many opportunities such as running a consulting business from 2017-2020 and becoming a continuing education instructor at a world-renowned post-secondary institution.

In 2019 she co-authored the Best Selling Book in Women’s Health on Amazon – Fitness To Freedom and launched a business and technology podcast – The Bacon Bits ‘n’ Bytes Podcast. Karen has co-authored Lighting The North, a 2020 Non-Fiction Finalist for The Canadian Book Club Awards. Karen is the co-founder of Kaibigan Connection – a for-profit social venture that connects Filipino entrepreneurs throughout Canada and beyond.
