Pick & GO Launches My Village, Its 3rd Outlet, Reinvigorating Brick & Mortar Retail As The Digital Lifestyle Hub

The creation of My Village is a concept that Pick & GO believes is the next step forward to enhance the retail experience

Singapore’s first AI unmanned convenience store, Pick & GO launches My Village, their 3rd outlet in the National University of Singapore. Building upon the cashier-less, checkout-free convenience store experience, My Village capitalises on stimulating all five senses through an ecosystem consisting of local brands to create the digital lifestyle hub of the future.

The creation of My Village is a concept that Pick & GO believes is the next step forward to enhance the retail experience. To work hand-in-hand with online retail’s strength in offering expedience, offline retail has to focus on engagement through the senses. My Village combines the two, allowing shoppers the means to experience the full spectrum of what brands in the space have to offer and a choice to the level of engagement. 

“During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, many local businesses were forced to operate digitally,” says Alex Ng, Founder and Director of Pick & GO “as the situation gets better in 2021, we see My Village as a platform for local companies to explore new products and concepts, and for shoppers to experience them as brick & mortar retail stages an impactful comeback.” 

Partnerships have been made with local brands with expertise pegged to each of the five senses to be part of the space. Pick & GO leads the charge, where a frictionless experience empowered by technology lets customers get all that they want with just a touch. For sight, Prism+ will have their latest Quantum edition UHD Android TVs in Pick & GO’s AI store that will display the different media collateral of the businesses in My Village. 

The concept of sensory engagement and mix of complementary businesses whose sum are greater than their parts through partnerships with Pick & GO has led to Scent by SIX creating a curated scent with fragrance intelligence to uplift moods and accentuate the shopping experience. Jason Lee, founder of Scent by Six mentions, “Being part of this multi-sensorial experience, together with other leading counterparts has made this collaboration with Pick and Go an exciting milestone.”

My Village occupies up to 3,090 sqft – more than 3 times their flagship store in Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Pick & GO’s unmanned AI store will be taking 1,066 sqft and serve as the nexus of My Village as part of Alex’s vision to make My Village a community for local businesses to grow and collaborate. With a focus on wellness & lifestyle, healthy food & beverages, and companies that champion environmental sustainability, Pick & GO is committing up to 30% of the space for local brands.

Pick & GO is making the barrier of entry accessible for local brands who want an offline presence by waiving fees for onboarding, and premium shelf space while offering mutually agreed margins on a consignment basis and cross-marketing opportunities on social media. Pick & GO aims to have up to 50 local brands in My Village by the end of 2021.

Pick & GO was founded in October 2019 with the vision to improve the shopping experience started with re-defining convenience shopping to be as simple as their namesake. Through automatic payment through the app, customers can pick what they want and go.

Pick & GO entered the market with their frictionless approach on 1st October 2019 with their flagship store at SUTD. The success resulted in a second outlet in Lakepoint Condo on 27th November 2020 which targeted the local community and residents in Jurong with a focused approach.
