Following the official announcement of the Singapore-Hong Kong Air Travel Bubble (ATB) on 26 April, a significant spike in travel search activity between the two countries has been detected across ADARA’s data consortiums.

Key observations in ADARA’s latest data include:

  • On the day of the announcement (26 April):
    • Flight search activity from Singapore to Hong Kong increased by 14 times
    • Flight searches from Hong Kong to Singapore increased by 13 times
  • Compared to the average number in April 2021, the number of flight arrival searches concentrated on the commencement of the ATB (26 May) is 15 times higher

This uptick in travel intent reveals a clear sign of consumers’ desire to head overseas, and is an encouraging indicator for the travel, tourism and hospitality industry even as the pandemic situation in both countries continue to evolve.
