In a strategic move to bolster its client-centric approach, Havas Media Network Australia has promoted Alastair Baker to the newly established role of Chief Planning Officer. This announcement follows Havas’ significant $400 million EU investment in data, technology, and AI, aimed at evolving its global strategy.
Previously serving as Head of Planning, Baker has been a pivotal figure in driving innovative projects that spurred client growth. In his enhanced role, he will focus on developing local strategies that harness the full potential of Havas’ Converged capabilities, enabling hyper-personalized marketing solutions. This initiative aligns with Havas’ vision to offer marketers a unified customer view and seamless integration of all agency capabilities, including modeling, eCommerce, search, content, and multi-channel activities.
Baker’s new role is integral to Havas’ mission of providing solutions that meet the evolving needs of marketers, who are increasingly challenged to achieve more with fewer resources. Virginia Hyland, CEO of Havas Media Network, emphasized this point, stating, “We are at a critical time in our industry where marketers are feeling the loaded pressure from their businesses to do more with the same or lower budgets, do more with the same team. Our goal is to simplify the complicated for them.”

Baker expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, saying, “I’m energized by Havas’ investment in technology and data to deliver best-in-market solutions for clients. This new role is an exciting part of that commitment and a personal chapter I’m looking forward to greatly.”
Starting immediately, Baker will introduce an integrated Converged planning process and an enhanced data and tool strategy to foster smarter, profit-driven decisions for clients.
