Deliveroo has today launched ‘Deliveroo Shopping’ in Singapore, a new online retail arm which will bring consumers a world of retail options on-demand, alongside its existing restaurant food and grocery offering.
Deliveroo users can now seamlessly order a range of retail items, spanning across categories including Beauty & Personal Care, Baby Care, Consumer Electronics, Florists, Health & Pharmacy, and Petcare.
The launch is in line with Deliveroo Singapore’s 9th Anniversary and a timely response to findings from its latest Consumer Survey released earlier this year which highlighted consumers’ increasing demand and preference (53%) in getting non-food supplies via food delivery platforms like Deliveroo.
“Delivery services have become an integral part of Singaporeans’ daily lives, evolving far beyond just meals and groceries. With the launch of Deliveroo Shopping, we’re committed to enhancing convenience and value for our customers by expanding our offerings to meet a wider range of everyday needs, enabling people to get them delivered quickly to their doorstep,” said Jason Parke, General Manager of Deliveroo Singapore.
Deliveroo Responds to the Growing Demand for Non-Food Deliveries and Gifting
To provide Deliveroo users with a one-stop shop for all their retail needs, all merchant partners and products are conveniently housed under the ‘Shopping’ section of the Deliveroo app, in their respective categories. With a wide range of renowned local and international retail brands like LUSH, the go-to for wellness and beauty products, Xpressflower, Singapore’s largest flower and gift store, and Pet Lovers Centre, one of the most established pet care retailers in the region (set to go live in coming months), Deliveroo is set to further bring the convenience of shopping to the doorsteps of customers.
Other brands now available on the app include The Body Shop, Vitakids, Doggie Delight, Gadget Mix, Hockhua Tonic and Ferns N Petals, with many more to be announced soon.
A Spokesperson from Pet Lovers Centre said, “As Singaporeans increasingly rely on delivery services for their daily needs, we’re excited to partner with Deliveroo Shopping to bring pet essentials directly to their doorsteps. Our collaboration with Deliveroo will provide pet owners with an alternative platform that offers convenient, on-demand access to a wide range of products, making caring for their beloved pets easier.”
Beyond just delivery for non-food items, Deliveroo is also rolling out a new gifting function in the app, where consumers can select whatever they want to gift someone and mark this as a ‘gift’ at checkout before sending their recipients a trackable link to the order with an animated greeting card.
This function neatly aligns with Deliveroo Singapore’s latest data citing that demand for gift deliveries (55%) have also been on the rise with convenience being a key factor, especially when time is limited or urgency is a concern.
Karen Goh, Marketing Manager, Xpressflower said: “With flowers making great on-demand gifts, this partnership with Deliveroo Shopping allows us to bring our freshly picked and arranged flowers right to the doorsteps of consumers at a moment’s notice, ensuring they have the perfect gift regardless of the occasion.”
Leveraging Machine-Learning
To enhance users’ Shopping experience, Deliveroo’s machine-learning-based search and discovery functionality allows users to browse for products based on various gifting occasions in the app. For instance – by searching for ‘birthday’, users will instantly be offered a curated selection of relevant gifting options.
As it continues to drastically expand its range of offerings, Deliveroo Shopping will be offering even more retailers and categories based on data gathered through consumer patterns which reveal what people are searching for and buying most of. This also enables Deliveroo to better support merchant partners with better visibility on consumer demand, for more customised promotions and brand awareness campaigns.
Limited Time Promos
To kick off the launch, Deliveroo will be offering $1 delivery fees from 5pm to 9pm every day from now till 9 December across Food and Shopping categories.
On top of that, from now till the end of the year, Deliveroo Plus subscribers can enjoy up to 30% discounts on selected retail brands while all other customers will receive discounts of up to 20%. Trust Bank customers will additionally receive 6% in cashback when they place their Deliveroo orders using the Trust Cashback card.
With the launch of Deliveroo Shopping, Deliveroo diversifies its focus towards in-demand segments beyond food delivery, creating an even more seamless on-demand experience that caters to a wider spectrum of consumer needs.
