In a forward-looking move to improve the region’s rail transport infrastructure, MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd (MyHSR Corp) has launched a comprehensive Request For Information (RFI) process. This initiative is a pivotal step in allowing the private sector to formally present concept proposals for the development and operation of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (KL-Singapore HSR) project, following a public-private partnership model.
To facilitate the government in making well-informed decisions, the RFI process has been made accessible to both local and international firms, inviting them to submit their innovative proposals. “The government will be able to assess industry interest, financial capacity for full project funding, and operational capabilities through the submitted concepts. These may include areas such as technical specifications, project costings, commercial and business models, and governance frameworks,” MyHSR Corp stated.
This RFI exercise signifies the government’s proactive initiative to restart the KL-Singapore HSR project using innovative funding mechanisms and implementation models, aiming to rejuvenate the national economy.
Previously, MyHSR Corp had conducted preliminary engagements with selected private companies to gauge interest, resource requirements, and capabilities essential for the project’s sustainability.
MyHSR Corp chairman, Datuk Seri Fauzi Abdul Rahman, highlighted the project’s potential to bring significant benefits to the populace. He said, “This project will catalyze economic expansion from the Klang Valley to the Southern Corridor of the peninsula, and subsequently, across Malaysia. Besides offering safer, faster, more efficient, and sustainable travel options, it aligns with the Malaysia Madani agenda, driving long-term growth and sustainability for the nation.”
MyHSR Corp CEO, Datuk Mohd Nur Ismal Mohamed Kamal, urged firms with relevant expertise to partake in this exercise. He said, “We anticipate strong participation and high-quality proposals that will guide the government’s decision for the project’s optimal progression.”
