Unveiling foodpanda Protect+: A Game-Changer in Rider Protection
In a commendable stride towards prioritizing the safety and well-being of its delivery partners, foodpanda Malaysia, the nation’s foremost food delivery platform, is rolling out an extended insurance coverage. This coverage, designed to protect riders and their families beyond working hours, is a testament to the company’s unwavering commitment to its workforce.
Introducing foodpanda Protect+, an accidental insurance top-up scheme, crafted to offer 24/7 protection for delivery partners and their immediate family. This initiative, birthed in collaboration with the renowned InsurTech firm, PolicyStreet, ensures worldwide coverage against unforeseen tragedies, including death, disablement, and hospitalization. Starting at a mere RM3 per month, riders can avail of this protection, with the option to include their spouses and two children for RM6. The plan also caters to single riders, extending the same benefits to their parents.
This new offering complements the existing insurance provision, which already covers all delivery partners during their active shifts, safeguarding them up to RM100,000 in the unfortunate event of accidental death or permanent disability.
Celebrating Dedication: Highlights from Rider Appreciation Day
Shubham Saran, the Head of Logistics at foodpanda Malaysia, shared the company’s ethos, stating, “At the heart of foodpanda’s mission lies our commitment to pushing the boundaries of providing unparalleled care for our delivery partners, with their families in mind this time.” He further highlighted foodpanda’s pioneering role in the p-hailing sector, emphasizing the significance of Rider Appreciation Day as the ideal platform to launch the extended benefits of foodpanda Protect+.
The Rider Appreciation Day, a grand affair at the foodpanda office in Bangsar South, saw participation from over 50 of the company’s elite delivery partners and its senior leadership. This event is set to be mirrored in rider hubs across Kuantan, Johor, Sabah, and Penang, ensuring a nationwide celebration.

Fostering Trust: Enhancing the Rider Experience
Beyond insurance, foodpanda Malaysia is keen on refining the overall rider experience. An interactive feedback session was organized, aiming to streamline the delivery process from merchants to end-users. “It is important that we build a community and a circle of trust with our delivery partners. Whether they deliver for foodpanda full-time or just a few hours each week to supplement their income, we want to ensure that they have a pleasant experience each time they take to the streets on our behalf.”
In line with this, the rider app undergoes regular updates for an optimized user experience. A recent addition is the rewards system, allowing riders to accumulate points and redeem them for exclusive merchandise.
The event concluded with a special recognition ceremony, celebrating six outstanding riders for their exceptional contributions, including those with the longest association with the company and significant social media engagement.
