KUALA LUMPUR, 25 July 2024 – The Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology & Innovation (MRANTI), Malaysia’s foremost agency for research and innovation commercialization, has officially launched the 2024 cycle of its Global Accelerator Programme (GAP). This initiative seeks to nurture companies with pioneering technologies and ideas that address the pressing issues highlighted under the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), including food security, affordable healthcare, and renewable energy.
The 2024 GAP aims to enroll at least 20 companies, offering them an array of opportunities to scale their innovations. Participants will benefit from workshops, masterclasses, and networking events designed to foster inter-industry collaboration. Moreover, they will be fast-tracked through Malaysia’s National Technology and Innovation Sandbox (NTIS), providing them with a controlled environment to test and validate their technologies.
One of the standout features of this year’s programme is the collaboration with The Earthshot Prize. This prestigious global sustainability award, founded by His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, aims to discover and scale solutions to the planet’s most pressing environmental challenges. Participating companies now have the opportunity to be nominated for this coveted award.

Safuan Zairi, Chief Ecosystem Officer of MRANTI, highlighted the programme’s dual focus on empowerment and problem-solving. “The main aims of GAP are empowerment and problem-solving. It functions as a catalyst for companies, equipping them with the necessary resources and network to navigate the complexities of growth and upscaling. In doing so, GAP helps them make a meaningful difference in their industries and beyond by addressing ongoing issues that affect the public in real-time. V-Farm, for example, introduced an effective vertical gardening solution which addressed food security and environmental concerns,” he shared.
The Asia School of Business (ASB) is also a key collaborator in this initiative. Joseph Cherian, Deputy CEO of ASB, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership. “We are thrilled and eager to establish with MRANTI to jointly operate this programme. ASB is pleased to collaborate with MRANTI on their endeavours by providing our respected faculty members, and experts who have achieved global acclaim in fields such as AI, Sustainability, Organisational Behaviour, and Matching Platforms. Our collaboration includes overseeing the programme from strategic planning and execution to module development, encompassing mentorship and progress tracking. As collaborators, we want to cultivate entrepreneur-leaders who consistently tackle demanding issues and challenge the status quo, with agility, creativity, and resourcefulness.”
Previous cycles of GAP have shown significant success, impacting 20 companies and 50 entrepreneurs, with a total value creation of RM22.42 million. Notable successes include companies such as Luwjistik, VStream Revolution, Sonicboom Solutions, and Izmir Technologies Industries.
The 2024 GAP cycle will run from September to November, inviting eligible companies to apply and leverage this unique opportunity to accelerate their growth and innovation.
