AirAsia teams up with Malaysian indie synth-pop artist Sam Lopez to celebrate ASEAN day. They present ‘Sounds of ASEAN,’ an audiovisual music project. It features tracks from five cities: Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, and Singapore.
Lopez explores these cities. He mingles with locals, embarks on adventures, captures sounds, and samples various aspects of ASEAN. Rudy Khaw, CEO of airasia, praises Lopez’s bright and clean sound creation with sound sampling. “We had to get him to work with us,” he says.

Lopez brings the cities to life with ‘Sounds of ASEAN.’ He’s inspired by heritage buildings, hawkers, jeepneys, tuk-tuks, and more. The result is an audiovisual experience for airasia that immerses listeners in ASEAN’s rich tapestry. AirAsia reveals a full playlist and an upcoming travelogue series on Lopez’s favorite places in these cities.
Lopez expresses his love for the cities. He finds them different yet similar. He hopes his tracks inspire exploration. “I hope the vibes of each city inspire people to explore the world,” he says.
