Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, during the fifth leg of his Jelajah Madani roadshow in Negeri Sembilan, voiced a stinging critique of the leaders of Perikatan Nasional (PN). He accused them of succumbing to a “disease” of envy, stemming from the works accomplished by him and his administration.
Anwar pointed out that these PN leaders, previously part of the federal government, had criticized his unity government as cruel and non-supportive towards opposition states. Countering this, he highlighted the swift approval of funds to aid Terengganu after it was affected by floods due to soil erosion, asking rhetorically whether such a government could be classified as cruel.

Addressing a crowd of over a thousand Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters at the roadshow, Anwar pointed out the attraction Malaysia had become for investors, given the political stability post the formation of the unity government. This includes Tesla, the electric vehicle company, choosing Malaysia for setting up its headquarters this year – a significant investment achievement since Anwar assumed prime ministership last November.
Referring to Tesla’s decision as evidence of his government’s good work, Anwar pointed out the importance of such investment for the nation. He also noted discussions with Elon Musk’s SpaceX about bringing Starlink to Malaysia, with Negeri Sembilan being the probable recipient.
In a broader effort to improve Malaysian lives, Anwar referred to the allocation of RM990 million to write off the debts of Felda farmers. He also mentioned government initiatives like installing 2,800 street lamps in Felda settlement areas and plans to construct a dialysis center in all Felda settlements in response to settlers’ struggles to reach existing dialysis centers.
Present at the Negeri Sembilan Jelajah Madani event were notable leaders including Deputy Prime Minister and Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, Umno secretary-general Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, and Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
In a promising turn of events, Asyraf pledged Umno’s support to help PH candidates in the Negeri Sembilan state election, particularly in seats facing resistance from Malay nationalist party’s supporters.
Loke asserted DAP’s support for Malays and their special position as stated in the Federal Constitution. He voiced no opposition to government aid intended to help Felda settlers, though he insisted that aid should also extend to the Chinese new villages.
Negeri Sembilan is the fifth state in the Jelajah Madani tour, leading up to the state elections on August 12.
