In a progressive leap towards a future dominated by mobile devices, Apple has recently unveiled two professional applications for iPad – Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro.
Apple asserts that these apps, designed specifically for touch interfaces, will amplify users’ workflows with the directness and distinctiveness of Multi-Touch gestures, a clear departure from the conventional mouse and keyboard dynamic.
The introduction of Final Cut Pro on the iPad translates to the remarkable ability to record, edit, complete, and distribute projects using a single, ultra-portable device. A newly integrated jog wheel and Live Drawing feature allows users to sketch or write directly onto video content using the Apple Pencil. Users with an M2 iPad Pro can even skim and preview footage just by hovering the Apple Pencil over the screen. The high-fidelity Liquid Retina XDR display ensures precise colour grading directly from your tablet.
Enhanced by Apple’s silicon and machine learning, Final Cut Pro expedites editing tasks like the Scene Removal Mask, enabling background replacement or removal without the need for a green screen. It also boasts a comprehensive library of professional graphics, effects, and audio for effortless content enhancement.
In a similar vein, Logic Pro on iPad promises a consolidated professional music creation platform. Multi-Touch gestures allow creators to play software instruments and interact with controls in a more natural way. With dynamic filtering in the new sound browser, users can easily discover and audition suitable sound clips.

Over 100 potent instruments and effects plugins, including vintage EQs, compressors, and reverbs, provide creators with a vast array of tools to fine-tune their music. Paired with features such as Beat Breaker, Quick Sampler, Step Sequencer, Drum Machine Designer, Live Loops, and Pro Mixer, the iPad becomes a creative powerhouse.
Both Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro for iPad will be available as subscriptions on the App Store starting Wednesday, May 24. Priced at $6.98 per month or $69 per year, each app comes with a one-month free trial. Users will require an iPad with at least an M1 chip for Final Cut Pro and an A12 Bionic chip for Logic Pro.
