This month, Adobe Photoshop turned 30! To mark the occasion and celebrate with users, Adobe released several new features on both the desktop and the iPad, including:
- Content-Aware Fill Workspace improvements: make multiple selections and apply multiple fills without leaving the workspace
- Lens Blur improvements: enhanced output quality and performance, improving overall realism (sharpness and edges)
- Mac OS Dark UI support: new dark mode
- Type settings: new typographic controls include tracking, leading, scaling, and formatting all/small caps, super/subscript
And these updates are only the beginning. Over the last three decades, the product team behind Photoshop has continued to innovate at a rapid pace, reinvent the experience, and enable creativity for all such that Photoshop has undeniably shaped the world of visual arts and culture. We are 30 years older, and 30 years wiser.
But it wouldn’t all be possible without the support and feedback of creators from all over the world who have been relying on Photoshop to produce their masterpieces. These include local artists such as Guoxin, Founder of Kilogrammerz, a visual arts education platform, who has created a captivating piece to immortalize Photoshop’s 30th birthday.
Joining the celebrations are also artists from the region, including Pazut Wutigornsombatkul, Digital Artist, Cartoonist, owner of Tuagom Studio from Thailand who shared:
“I have been growing with Photoshop. I started to use Photoshop in 2000 to retouch some photos and Photoshop4 was the first version I experienced and started to learn about digital painting or digital art. With a wide range of tools, functions and great performance, I can create a piece of work more easily and effectively. I’ve used Photoshop for drawing, painting, illustration, and photography, all in a single program. After Adobe made a significant transformation by introducing Creative Cloud, and photoshop on the iPad, I can work on mobility, anywhere anytime. Not to forget our friends from Malaysia – storytellers like Rames Harikrishnasamy – who started experimenting with Photoshop 18 years ago as a business student. Such creators have been a massive inspiration to us and those at Adobe!
