In a bid to combat plastic pollution and endorse environmental conservation, City Super Group is taking a determined stand. Aligning with the theme of this year’s World Environment Day, “Beat Plastic Pollution”, the company is rolling out a series of eco-conscious measures across its subsidiary brands including city’super, LOG-ON, and Little Mermaid. These measures, which commence from June 5, signify the company’s ongoing commitment to environmental preservation.
The initiative introduces various changes such as replacing traditional plastic shopping bags with reusable FSC-certified eco-friendly paper ones, offering reusable ice gel packs in lieu of single-use ice bags, and switching plastic bubble wrap for eco-friendly honeycomb paper wrap for fragile items. The company also plans to pack meat and cheese products in plastic-free paper.

In addition to these measures, City Super Group’s stores will also introduce new multifunctional self-service ECO stations. These stations will serve as collection points for polystyrene, as well as facilitate the reuse of shopping bags and paper box packaging. Through these efforts, the company projects a significant reduction of over 1.5 million pieces of plastic products annually, thus mitigating the environmental impact.
Moreover, part of the proceeds from these initiatives will be channeled towards WWF-Hong Kong, contributing to conservation and education programs.
The company’s “Say No to Plastic” campaign marks the first phase of their commitment to environmental protection. In the second phase, City Super Group plans to launch a new ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) website. This platform will offer the latest updates on the group’s policies and community events, focusing on environment, social responsibilities, corporate governance, and particularly, consumer health material.
