After an impactful 30-year stint in the advertising world, Wunderman Thompson’s APAC Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives, Tarun Rai, has announced his retirement, as revealed by the agency.
Rai launched his career with Wunderman Thompson in 1988, commencing as an account executive. His extraordinary drive saw him ascending swiftly to managing partner at the renowned ad agency J. Walter Thompson (JWT), which fused with Wunderman in 2018, birthing the current entity.
Post a media period, Rai returned to JWT, taking on the mantle of Group CEO for South Asia. His strategic diversification expanded the agency, fostering enhanced agency-client relationships and attracting an array of significant national and international brands.
Upon successfully overseeing the Wunderman-JWT merger, Rai was named chairman and Group CEO for South Asia, skillfully navigating the agency through the tumultuous pandemic period. In 2022, Rai stepped into his latest role as the executive director of strategic initiatives for the APAC region.
