A year ago, the digital space buzzed as ChatGPT made its grand entrance, swiftly becoming the most sought-after AI chatbot across the globe. The digital assistant has found its latest arena in the automobile industry.
A Breakthrough for DS Automobiles
In a significant tech leap, Stellantis’s DS Automobiles stands out as the first automaker to seamlessly weave the ChatGPT AI chatbot into its vehicle systems. This innovative fusion offers drivers and passengers the ability to obtain instantaneous, precise responses, akin to what we’ve grown accustomed to with digital assistants like Alexa or Siri.
Getting Started: A Limited Offer
A pilot phase, spanning the initial six months post-launch, is in the offing. Here, the first 20,000 users who register will be privileged to experience this state-of-the-art interface. However, there are conditions. Eligibility hinges on users possessing vehicles from the DS 3, DS 4, DS 7, and DS 9 line-up, equipped with the active DS IRIS system. Activating this chat feature is intuitive: users utter “OK IRIS” after pressing a designated button on their steering wheel.

In a move to incentivize early adopters, DS Automobiles offers this integration at zero additional cost for the pioneering 20,000 registrants. The only catch? Their purchase of the above-listed car models should fall between October 19 and February 29. And to set things in motion, one can head over to the DS Services Store.
European Footprint, for Now
Currently, this avant-garde tech is earmarked for select European territories—France, Germany, the UK, Spain, and Italy. Worth noting is the system’s multilingual prowess, accommodating the official languages of these regions.
ChatGPT’s Growing Legacy
For context, the renowned ChatGPT AI chatbot made its debut only a year ago, in November. Its popularity has skyrocketed since, with availability on various platforms, including mobile apps and web interfaces.
