In a significant move that has caught the eye of the business community, Edelman, the leading global communications firm, has announced the promotion of Delicia Tan and Nelson Ren to the joint roles of co-CEO for Greater China. This change comes into effect immediately.
Delicia Tan, previously CEO of Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area, will continue her responsibilities in that role. Additionally, she will manage the company’s operations in Taiwan.
With more than 20 years of experience in integrated marketing communications across Singapore and the APAC region, Tan has been a crucial figure in Edelman for 17 years. She’s been a key player in many of Edelman’s largest regional and global relationships. Her ability to bring teams together has been vital in unlocking multi-market growth opportunities.
Meanwhile, Nelson Ren will work closely with Tan on enhancing integration and collaboration across Edelman’s Greater China teams. Ren has also been given the title of CEO for China, with oversight of the firm’s operations in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou.
Since joining Edelman China in 2021, Ren has been praised for fostering a collaborative culture. His leadership in the China communications function has played an instrumental role in guiding the company’s advisory services for both local and international clients.
Commenting on the appointments, Warren Fernandez, Edelman’s CEO for Asia Pacific, expressed confidence in the new leadership. “As a united team, Tan and Ren share an ambition to build opportunities that draw on shared experience, skills, and resources across our Greater China teams. I believe in their abilities to cultivate a culture of partnership and bring together the right people,” he said.
The new appointments are expected to further the progress made since Tan’s appointment in driving growth opportunities from the Greater Bay Area last year.
