The fashion brand Charles & Keith has joined UN Women’s “Storytelling for Gender Equality” programme to support women’s rights. As part of their campaign for International Women’s Day 2023, the brand has made a special purple edition of their handbags, with 20% of the proceeds going towards funding the program. The brand has also brought together in-house talents from various market offices to share their views on equity.
Gathering Talents to Share Views on Equity
As part of its campaign for International Women’s Day 2023, Charles & Keith has asked some of its best employees from different market offices to talk about what equity means to them. They have joined a network of female storytelling advocates working with UN Women to create positive social norms, anti-violence policies, and a safe space for survivors of violence to speak up about their experiences.
With their coordinated efforts around International Women’s Day, Charles and Keith hope to spark meaningful conversations, raise awareness about discrimination, and take steps towards a more just and equal society. This year’s theme, “Embrace Equity,” is all about celebrating how far women have come in the fight for their rights and encouraging everyone to embrace equity.
Poh Shi Min, senior international marketing executive at Charles & Keith, says, “The dawn of tomorrow starts today. As we celebrate the strength and intelligence of the women in our lives, let us learn to unlearn gender roles and gather everyone to embrace equity. We should relook positions of power and give women more opportunities to be seen and heard. All the heroes in my life are women. Happy International Women’s Day!”
Angelyn Tan, the brand’s creative content associate, says, “Women have always been my biggest inspiration as the struggles women face require great strength and perseverance. This year, we celebrate equity and how far women have come in the fight for their rights. To all the divine women in the world, Happy International Women’s Day!”
Celebrating the differences
Grace Park, a digital marketing associate at Charles & Keith, said,”Every person has their own colour. Embracing and celebrating the differences can help us learn how to support one another better.”
