The International Women’s Day campaign provides a platform for local, lower middle-income women entrepreneurs, fostering financial independence and community empowerment.
Kuala Lumpur – The #SapotLokal 2.0 campaign, launched by Siemens Healthineers in partnership with Triterra for International Women’s Day 2025, raised over RM17,000 to support lower middle-income women entrepreneurs in Malaysia. The event provided a platform for women entrepreneurs to showcase their products, build networks, and gain visibility, promoting financial independence and creating new business opportunities.
Purpose-Driven Employee Engagement Initiative
The #SapotLokal campaign was inspired by an internal survey conducted by Siemens Healthineers, which revealed that nearly 60% of employees wanted more impactful International Women’s Day initiatives beyond the usual celebrations. In response, Siemens Healthineers launched #SapotLokal, collaborating with local social enterprises such as Komuniti Tukang Jahit (KTJ) and Ibupreneur Malaysia to support lower middle-income women, particularly “mother-preneurs.” Following the success of last year’s initiative, the campaign returned this year with an even greater impact.
“We believe in fostering a culture of diversity and inclusivity at Siemens Healthineers,” said Jan Tiedermann, Finance Director of Siemens Healthineers. “The #SapotLokal campaign is a direct reflection of our commitment to listening to our employees, who expressed a strong desire to support local communities. By providing a platform for women-led businesses, we are helping these entrepreneurs thrive and creating opportunities that drive sustainable change within our country.”
Commitment to Empowerment
Recognising the importance of this initiative, Triterra partnered with Siemens Healthineers to expand the campaign’s reach. Through this collaboration, Triterra reinforced its commitment to fostering inclusivity and supporting women entrepreneurs, empowering them to achieve financial independence while contributing to the well-being of their communities.
Triterra has long championed the importance of nurturing vibrant communities that prosper through collaboration and inclusivity. As the developer of The MET Corporate Towers, Triterra aims to create more than just office space; it seeks to develop dynamic environments where businesses, entrepreneurial spirits, and innovative changemakers can connect and collaborate, ultimately driving transformative impacts across industries. The #SapotLokal 2.0 campaign perfectly aligns with this vision.
“International Women’s Day is about much more than celebration; it’s about taking actionable steps toward progress,” stated Christopher Lim, CEO of Triterra. “Through initiatives like these, we are not only empowering women entrepreneurs but also uplifting the entire community. Strengthening our community opens doors to new opportunities, and creating those opportunities paves the way for true impact.”
Inspiring Communities Through Meaningful Corporate Initiatives
A key highlight of the event was the panel discussion titled “Empowered Voices, United Allies,” featuring prominent leaders such as Sue Yii Yap, Co-founder of Komuniti Tukang Jahit (KTJ); June Hamid, Founder of Winner’s Innovative Entrepreneurial Network (WiEN); Christopher Lim, CEO of Triterra; and Jan Tiedermann, Finance Director of Siemens Healthineers.
The panelists shared valuable insights on overcoming the challenges faced by women in corporate and entrepreneurial settings, the importance of mentorship, and the critical role of men as allies in advocating for gender equality in both spheres. The discussion also aligned with this year’s International Women’s Day theme, #AccelerateAction, emphasising the urgency of taking immediate action to foster greater inclusivity within our communities.
The #SapotLokal 2.0 initiative successfully raised over RM17,000 in support of women-led enterprises, including Komuniti Tukang Jahit (KTJ), Ibupreneur, and Women Of Will (WOW). Aligned with the spirit of Ramadan, the vibrant bazaar featured a wide range of items from local, lower middle-income women entrepreneurs. Each purchase played a crucial role in empowering these women, providing them with the opportunities they need to grow their businesses and strengthen their communities. To conclude the day, patrons participated in a peaceful Sunset Yoga session sponsored by Anytime Fitness, offering a moment of reflection and relaxation.
Siemens Healthineers and Triterra remain dedicated to advancing diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of their work. The success of the #SapotLokal 2.0 campaign reflects both organisations’ ongoing commitment to building a more inclusive and diverse community where everyone can thrive – #AccelerateAction.
