Exchange 106, Malaysia’s iconic 106-floor skyscraper, is redefining urban spaces with the launch of LAMBARK@EXCHANGE 106, an indoor Ramadan bazaar that brings together local artistry, small businesses, and a renewed sense of community spirit. This initiative not only offers a unique shopping experience but also highlights Malaysia’s rich creative talents, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities – by promoting inclusive cultural and economic participation.
LAMBARK@EXCHANGE 106 goes beyond the traditional Ramadan bazaar format, featuring an exclusive art showcase by eight emerging and established Malaysian artists, whose work spans themes from cultural heritage to contemporary social issues. Notably, Ismail Baba, Malaysia’s premier native artist, and Rasid Yusof, known for his evocative environmental conservation pieces, will be among the artists presenting their work in an unconventional setting that challenges the traditional perception of a bazaar. Other featured artists include Anuar Dan, known for his unique fusion of vibrant colours and Malay cultural motifs, capturing Malaysia’s urban landscape through his interpretation of Cubism, and Huda Mazli, whose work explores figurative art and impressionism, often portraying women with raw, intense emotions through dark, expressive charcoal strokes.
The indoor venue is climate-controlled, ensuring a comfortable shopping experience regardless of the weather conditions, and is ideally timed to capitalise on the heightened community spirit during Ramadan. The event also includes live performances by the Cemara Band, further enriching the cultural experience.
Reflecting on the significance of the initiative, Ismail Baba remarked, “Exchange 106’s support for local artists like myself is invaluable. This platform not only showcases our work but also connects us with buyers during Ramadan – a time of renewed community spirit.” Adding to the sentiment, Rasid Yusof shared: “Art has the power to spark conversations. Through this event, I hope my work will inspire people to think more deeply about cultural identity”.
The bazaar runs daily from 10 am to 10 pm until 30 March 2025 at Exchange 106, Lingkaran TRX, Kuala Lumpur. In addition to the artistic showcases, the event will feature a range of local vendors, including Mira Cake House, Petite Le Tresor, Joud Auttor, Minimaliz and others, providing diverse culinary delights and artisanal products to complement the creative offerings on display. Exchange 106’s commitment to SDG 11 is evident through its ongoing efforts to create spaces that preserve cultural diversity and drive economic growth for small businesses. By hosting the Lambark@Exchange 106 Ramadan Bazaar, the tower is setting a new benchmark for urban development, demonstrating that a building can be much more than an office space – it can be a thriving community hub that nurtures creativity, innovation and connectivity.
