eGifts becoming a norm of corporate incentive programmes
With the growing penetration of smartphones, social networks and the advancement of mobile payment technology in Asia, social gifting is reaching an inflection point in the region. There is optimistic potential for the growth of the eGifting industry in Southeast Asia.
According to PayNXT360’s Q4 2021 global gift card survey, the gift card industry in Malaysia is expected to grow by 16.4% on an annual basis, reaching US$1385.8 million in 2022. The gift card industry in Malaysia is expected to grow steadily in H1 2022 and record a strong growth in H2 2022 and continue to grow over the forecast period, recording a CAGR of 14.5% from 2022-2026.
The loss of traditional gift cards has hastened the use of eGifts and the gift card industry’s expansion in Malaysia can be ascribed to the country’s overall increase in e-commerce and corporate incentive programmes.
Ryo Okubo, Chief Operating Officer of Giftee Malaysia, said “eGifts present a unique and exponential marketing opportunity to touch two target consumers at once – the gift buyer who makes the purchase and the receiver of the gift. Our giftee for Business solution provides a B2B platform where brands could market their products to companies to be used as eGifts in their incentive campaigns. This would generate new distribution channels, which are particularly important to SMEs. This helps them gain brand awareness, increase revenue significantly and scale their business. We are proud to be part of the digitalisation transformation roadmap for local businesses to improve efficiency, competitiveness, and productivity in the industry. ”
