Foodpanda, the leading Asian food and grocery delivery network, has announced a strategic collaboration with Singapore-based AI provider, TabSquare. This partnership aims to introduce innovative digital solutions to restaurants, including QR code-based ordering systems and AI-fueled predictive analytics. The initiative, which is under the aegis of parent company Delivery Hero, is set to commence operations across several Asian markets, including Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Taiwan.
With the incorporation of TabSquare’s technology, foodpanda seeks to empower its restaurant partners to digitize traditional elements and automate tasks. This step could significantly increase time-efficiency within the ordering process, as customers can conveniently peruse digital menus, place orders, and finalize payments.

Moreover, restaurants affiliated with foodpanda can leverage TabSquare’s AI analytics to gain a competitive edge in customer engagement and retention. The analytical tool provides invaluable insights by processing an abundance of customer shopping history data. This information can prove instrumental in discerning trends related to price sensitivity, purchase volume, and menu preferences, and can be applied across various scenarios.
Jakob Angele, APAC CEO of foodpanda, envisions this technology playing a pivotal role in transforming the dining experience. “We aspire to be a part of as many of our customers’ food interactions as possible. Implementing QR ordering in restaurants is a logical step for us. It enables us to extend significant benefits to our network of 500,000 restaurants, aiding their profitability through improved customer service,” Angele explained. He believes that in half a decade, QR code-based ordering will be the standard, and paper menus will become relics of the past.
Echoing this sentiment, Anshul Gupta, co-founder of TabSquare, remarked, “We have always strived to stay at the cutting edge of industry innovation by introducing AI-powered solutions that augment restaurant revenue, streamline operations, and enhance the guest dining experience. Through our collaboration with foodpanda, we look forward to introducing many innovative features to the industry. For instance, restaurants partnering with TabSquare can now advertise to foodpanda’s expansive customer base, thus attracting new patrons.”
