At CONNECT Summer 2023, leading event technology company, Gevme introduced GoGreen, a brand new platform feature designed to measure and offset carbon emissions associated with event attendees’ travel. By calculating carbon emissions and providing options to contribute towards eco projects worldwide, GoGreen empowers event organizers and participants to impact the environment positively.
Speaking on the latest feature, Jonathan Easton, VP of Design at Gevme, shares, “GoGreen is a game-changer in the events industry, offering a unique opportunity for event organizers and attendees alike to embrace environmental responsibility right at the starting line- Registration. Participants can input their mode of transportation along with their accommodation details, upon which GoGreen calculates their carbon footprint and presents them with a range of carefully selected eco projects available for them to contribute to, either covering carbon avoidance or carbon reduction technologies, thus offsetting their carbon emissions. This way, we are taking tangible steps towards a greener and more sustainable world. Together, we can make a lasting impact on our planet.”

Engaging all levels of stakeholders to green the event process
According to MeetGreen, a gathering of around 1,000 participants can generate an estimated 530 metric tons of CO2 emissions. Moreover, the emphasis on sustainable practices is not just about reducing environmental impacts, with studies revealing that brands focusing on sustainability typically experience heightened satisfaction levels, enhanced brand image, and improved return on investment.
Following Gevme’s earlier announcement in the year about their Sustainability Manifesto, they’ve had numerous initiatives, measures and products meant to provide event organisers with the tools and resources to create and run better and greener events. These include the launch of the MetaCard and digital swag bags to eliminate paper waste of business cards, as well as the use of biodegradable and recyclable materials for registration and check-in booths.
Veemal Gungadin, CEO of Gevme, comments, “We’ve always been committed to positively impacting our industry and our planet, continually aiming to provide all stakeholders in the events industry – from organisers and exhibitors to delegates – with easy-to-use tools that make it possible for everyone to contribute towards making events more sustainable. We’re thrilled to introduce GoGreen, a simple yet impactful feature that empowers event attendees to be part of the solution, turning their carbon emissions into positive actions for our planet. With GoGreen, we’re not just measuring impact, but catalysing change and shaping a sustainable future together.”
For now, GoGreen is currently on a closed launch and is only available on request to Event Organisers. Find out more here.
