WhatsApp has been working hard to provide citizens of various Indian cities with transit solutions through their WhatsApp Business platform. They’ve joined forces with metro rail service providers to make this possible. With this integration, users can easily book, purchase, cancel or recharge tickets via a WhatsApp chatbot without any hassle. Furthermore, they can conveniently access related information such as train schedules, routes, and fare breakdowns.
Ravi Garg, WhatsApp’s Business Messaging Director for India, expressed pride in the role that India’s digital revolution is playing in making public transportation safer, more intelligent, and more convenient. He also stated that WhatsApp is happy to support other cities in digitizing their train transit services to enhance the daily lives of commuters across India.

WhatsApp has signed agreements with the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation, Mumbai Metro, Pune Metro, and Hyderabad’s L&T Metro Rail to bring digital metro services to citizens of Bangalore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Pune. Bangalore’s Namma Metro makes life easier for commuters. They have an end-to-end QR ticketing service that supports both English and Kannada, allowing users to purchase/cancel tickets, view fare details, check card information, and recharge cards.
Mumbai Metro users can purchase e-tickets on WhatsApp that must be verified at the Automated Fare Collection gate and contain essential journey information. In Pune, commuters can book e-tickets by messaging the chatbot number, while Hyderabad metro users can request an e-ticket booking URL via the chatbot, which is valid for five minutes and allows for end-to-end digital payment-enabled ticket booking.
