“Why” is the most powerful word. You can either like me or hate me, but you’ll have to admit that it’s absolutely true. Whatever statements I throw at you, the first question that pops up in your mind is “Why”. Why did you say that?
“Most entrepreneurs lack the mentality of owning a business, instead they own a job”.
When the statement hits right at you, you might even be defensive about it, and you will start asking questions. In order to really know the answer, you will ask me, “Why are you saying this?” You need justification for that statement that I made and you will start with asking, why?
The question “why” will bring you ‘justifications‘, show you ‘directions’, and even put ‘emotions’. Let’s put it out in a scenario. A young kid at the age of 14 starts selling nasi lemak at the roadside before he goes to school every morning. In your mind, you might say that he is helping his family, or he is finding extra pocket money to buy uniforms, or probably he has an uncle who owns a business and he wants to be just like his uncle. You want to know the reasons behind his doing. So, there are endless possibilities to put this. But how do we get the answer? It is simple, we will know by asking “why” to justify the thoughts that we have in mind. And with an answer from the boy, that is how we get the answer.
So why ‘direction’? Behind every entrepreneur and business owner, there is always a reason why they start a business, at least one. Most of the time, it is because it provides solutions. When there is a problem, there is always a solution. The solutions end up becoming opportunities and endless possibilities but, if you want to know the reason behind it, you will start with asking why. Why did you start your business? Why did you come up with this idea? Why did you decide to head on this journey? A good story or reason behind the answer will bring you ‘emotions’. And with emotions, you will get back up from your team members. You will get support from the community and eventually push your product to them and make them your followers or connections. Possibly ends up with investors throwing money at you if you got the demand running. As long as you already build a strong bonding with them with a good reason “Why”.
