Netflix has made another key leadership change, promoting Jerome Bigio to the role of senior director of marketing for Southeast Asia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Bigio will also maintain his current position as marketing director for Southeast Asia.
With a career at Netflix that dates back to 2016, Bigio has proven to be a valuable asset to the company. He has held various positions, including head of partner marketing in the EMEA region, where he was responsible for marketing partnerships in France, the UK, Benelux, Spain, Portugal, and Poland. His main partners included Orange, Bouygues, SFR, Virgin Media, BT, Samsung, LG, Google, and Playstation.
Bigio’s Move to APAC and Promotion to Director of Marketing
Partnership In 2018, Bigio was relocated to the APAC region and was promoted to director of marketing partnership of APAC. During this time, he was responsible for marketing partnerships in Australia, Japan, Korea, India, Southeast Asia, and greater China. His main partners included Singtel, Airtel, LGU+, KDDI, AIS, True, Samsung, LGE, and One+.
Back in January, Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings stepped down from his position as CEO, and will take on the role of executive chairman. He will be succeeded by Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters who will work together as co-CEOs. The news, which was effective immediately, represents a culmination of a decade of succession planning by the streaming service’s board. As part of that process, the firm promoted Sarandos to co-CEO alongside Hastings in July 2020, and Peters to chief operating officer (COO). In the last two and a half years, Hastings has also increasingly delegated the management of Netflix to Sarandos and Peters.
