In a significant stride toward promoting mental wellness, VitaHealth Malaysia and Tropicana Corporation Berhad recently hosted Malaysia’s longest Offline 16 event, garnering an overwhelming response with 300 participants. Held on 17 August 2024, at the exclusive Grand Ballroom of Tropicana Golf & Country Resort, this groundbreaking event challenged participants to disconnect from their devices and reconnect with one another. The event, which ran from 8 am until midnight, set a new record in the Malaysia Book of Records for the “Most Accumulated Offline Hours in a Day.”
Promoting Mental Health Through Device-Free Engagement
The Offline 16 event was more than just a digital detox; it was a celebration of mental health awareness. Hosted by renowned TV personality Emerson Sean, the event was packed with activities designed to foster face-to-face interactions and encourage participants to embrace life without screens for 16 consecutive hours. From fitness challenges and a therapy sanctuary to stand-up comedy by Douglas Lim and badminton with Olympian Pearly Tan, the day offered a diverse array of engaging and rejuvenating activities.
Among the 300 attendees were 22 children from two orphanages, Praise Emmanuel Home and Rumah Charis. These young participants, aged between 13 and 17, enjoyed wellness activities, a sharing session with the Malaysian Mental Health Association (MMHA), and were treated to delicious food packs throughout the day.

Aligning with ESG Commitments

VitaHealth’s CEO for Malaysia and Singapore, Dr. KS Beh, expressed pride in the event’s success, saying, “Offline 16 was inspired by the rising global concern over mental health issues. The overwhelming turnout and support from the public, media, and our corporate partners is a testament to the importance of such initiatives.”
A Platform for Future Initiatives
Ong Chou Wen, CEO of Tropicana, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the importance of mental health in their ESG strategy. “With this event, we created a safe space for our employees and the community to unplug and reconnect. This initiative aligns perfectly with our mantra of Redefining the Art of Living, ensuring that mental wellness is a priority in our sustainable journey,” said Ong.
A Milestone Achievement
The success of the Offline 16 event marks a significant milestone not only for VitaHealth and Tropicana but also for Malaysia’s mental wellness landscape. The event’s recognition in the Malaysia Book of Records sets a new standard for digital detox initiatives in the country. As the blueprint for future events, VitaHealth and Tropicana are committed to continuing their efforts to promote the philosophy of “disconnect to reconnect.”
