Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed admiration for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ campaign, hailing its substantial impact on the nation’s economy.
Addressing a conference organised by the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI) in Moscow, Putin highlighted India’s exemplary efforts to motivate companies to innovate, produce, and assemble goods within its borders, as reported by the Russian TV network, RT.
“India, under the stewardship of our esteemed friend, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, initiated the ‘Make in India’ campaign years ago. The upshot on the Indian economy is nothing short of extraordinary,” Putin acclaimed, “Adopting successful strategies, even if they originate from our allies rather than us, wouldn’t be amiss.”
In continuation, Putin endorsed the Indian endeavour to back homegrown goods and brands in Russia, suggesting Moscow needs to “devise supportive mechanisms to augment our companies’ product marketing prowess.”

Putin extolled India’s successful establishment of a robust blueprint to boost local manufacturing capacity and attract overseas investors. The Russian president underscored the necessity to contemplate “rendering our products more appealing and useful, incorporating contemporary aesthetics and characteristics.”
The ‘Make in India’ drive was globally launched in September 2014, symbolizing India’s revitalized emphasis on manufacturing. The venture’s ambition is to position India as the prime global manufacturing hub.
It aspires to integrate India substantially into the global supply chain, according to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). The focus is on elevating Indian firms to excel in the globalised workspace.
The Indian Government has implemented a suite of measures to drastically enhance the ease of doing business to realize this vision.
