Permodalan Nasional (PNB), a prominent fund management firm in Malaysia, has declared Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad Raja Tun Uda as its new group chairman, effective from 1 June. Concurrently, Raja Arshad will continue his leadership roles as chairman of government-owned private equity firm Ekuiti Nasional, Icon Offshore, and Bumi Armada.
Prior to PNB, Raja Arshad has held significant positions in esteemed organizations like Maxis and Khazanah Nasional. He also served as the executive chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Malaysia, and chairman of the leadership team of PwC Asia 7.

Additionally, his vast career portfolio includes leadership roles at the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board and Danamodal Nasional, a special purpose vehicle established by the government during the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis.
Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn, PNB’s president and group chief executive, expressed his optimism towards this appointment stating, “We are pleased to welcome Raja Arshad to the PNB board. His extensive experience will be invaluable as we execute our strategic plan to enhance the economic wealth of the Bumiputera community and all Malaysians.”
The announcement of Raja Arshad’s appointment follows the resignation of Tun Arifin Zakaria from the group chairman position of PNB earlier this month.
Furthermore, PNB has been involved in revitalizing polluted rivers and streams through its corporate social responsibility programme, collaborating with the government on cleanup efforts and riverbank greening initiatives to mitigate flooding, abrasion, and landslides.
