AirAsia MOVE, previously known as AirAsia superapp, has appointed seasoned marketing veteran Ravi Shankar as its new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Shankar, who boasts over 15 years of experience in the marketing and branding industry, will report directly to Nadia Omar, CEO of AirAsia MOVE. In his new role, Shankar will oversee the branding, marketing, data, and growth teams, leveraging his extensive expertise to drive the company’s strategic objectives.
A Return to Familiar Grounds
This marks Shankar’s second tenure with AirAsia. He initially joined the company in January 2017 as the Group Head of Digital Marketing, a role he held for two years. Subsequently, he served as the Group Head of Digital Marketing and Analytics for nearly two years, and later as Chief Growth Officer before departing. Reflecting on his return, Shankar expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “I am excited to be back in the AirAsia ecosystem. The team will harness the power of AI to enhance our marketing efforts. A Proven Track Record
Prior to rejoining AirAsia MOVE, Shankar was the Chief Marketing Officer at CARSOME Malaysia, where he was responsible for branding, marketing, growth, and customer experience across Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, and the Philippines. His leadership at CARSOME resulted in significant advancements in brand positioning and customer engagement across these key markets.
Shankar’s career began in India, where he served as the Campaign Management Lead at Google for nearly two years. He then moved to Malaysia, taking on the role of Regional Head of Performance and Analytics at Lion and Lion for two years. His diverse background and proven success in the APAC region have equipped him with a unique perspective on the interplay between technology and marketing.
