In a groundbreaking initiative, Singapore’s telecommunications giant Singtel has joined forces with popular TV channel Nickelodeon. Their mission? To launch an ambitious electronic waste recycling campaign, aptly named ‘Go Green with the Turtles’, aimed at fostering greater environmental consciousness.
Heroes in a Half Shell Lead the Charge
This eco-friendly campaign, featuring the beloved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, invites the public to participate actively in e-waste management. From December 1, 2023, to February 29, 2024, Singtel shops at select locations will host recycling bins for unwanted electronic devices.
Bridging Digital Divides
The collected items will undergo refurbishment by Engineering Good, Singtel’s non-profit partner in device circularity. This process ensures that vulnerable communities can access and benefit from digital technology, bridging the digital divide while promoting sustainability.

Engaging the Public with Animation and Interaction
A series of animated videos will be the campaign’s cornerstone, with the Ninja Turtles encouraging viewers to become ‘eco-ninjas’ in combating ‘technotrash’. These animations will be broadcast across various platforms, including Nickelodeon, Singtel TV, and social media channels, enhancing the campaign’s reach.
A Comic Con Connection
Adding to the excitement, the campaign will feature a special booth at Singapore Comic Con. Here, attendees can meet their favorite Turtle characters, participate in challenges, and enjoy exclusive freebies. Singtel customers also receive a bonus – a 10% discount on convention tickets.
Leadership’s Eco-Vision
Diana Chen, Singtel’s Managing Director of Customer Management, emphasizes the company’s commitment to a greener future. With a target of achieving net zero by 2045, Singtel is actively improving energy efficiency, embracing renewable energy, and reducing packaging. This campaign is a step towards realizing these goals.
Inspiring Collective Action
The collaboration with Nickelodeon and Engineering Good reflects Singtel’s dedication to raising awareness about climate change and promoting device circularity. The campaign aims to inspire individuals and families, especially those with children, to contribute to combating the climate crisis, no matter how small the step.
