KUALA LUMPUR, DECEMBER 10, 2024 — With renewable energy as the direction towards a sustainable world as well as the nation’s carbon emission goals, Solarvest Holdings Berhad and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) are set to work together to set new benchmarks in Malaysia’s digital power and renewable energy landscape.
The partnership aims to harness renewable energy to drive a greener, more energy-efficient future with advanced technologies, including Smart PV inverters and energy storage solutions.
Solarvest will take the lead as the Clean Energy Developer, responsible for the development and EPCC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, & Commissioning) of renewable energy projects, while Huawei Malaysia will lend its technology and expertise to support the success of these projects.
The collaboration involves three focus areas, with the first being the integration of solar smart PV technology into both ongoing and future Solarvest projects. Upcoming projects for Solarvest include its Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP), large-scale solar farms (LSS), and Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS).
Secondly, the partnership aims to implement cutting edge “solar + battery energy storage systems (BESS)” technology to strengthen Malaysia’s energy resilience.

The third focus area of the collaboration is the joint cultivation of local talent in green energy technologies. Huawei Malaysia will play a key role in providing training in solar PV systems, battery storage, and electric vehicle (EV) charging technologies. This will help create a skilled green workforce that is ready to support Malaysia’s green economy.
“Our collaboration is more than achieving energy goals, it is an investment to the future of Malaysia. Solarvest has been dedicated to supporting Malaysia’s shift to clean energy, building a skilled green workforce and improving the resiliency of energy infrastructure. By integrating advanced Smart PV and energy storage technologies into Malaysia’s flagship initiatives like LSS5, CGPP and CRESS, we are enhancing the efficiency and stability in renewable energy projects. Together, we are setting the foundation for a sustainable, carbon neutral Malaysia,” said Solarvest Executive Director and Group Chief Executive Officer Mr Davis Chong Chun Shiong.
“As of now, Huawei has delivered inverters to Malaysia that will generate about 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, equivalent to reducing carbon emissions by 1.81 million tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. Through our partnership with Solarvest, we hope to drive further progress, strengthen Malaysia’s leadership in renewable energy, and support a more sustainable future for the nation,” said Huawei Malaysia’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Simon Sun.
The MoU signing ceremony took place at Huawei Malaysia’s Customer Solution Innovation Center located at The Intermark, witnessed by Solarvest Managing Director Mr Lim Chin Siu and Huawei Malaysia CEO Mr Simon Sun. The signatories for the MoU were Solarvest Executive Director and Group CEO Mr Davis Chong Chun Siong, and Huawei Malaysia Digital Power Business Vice President Mr Chong Chern Peng.
This collaboration between Solarvest and Huawei Malaysia represents a shared commitment to driving renewable energy solutions that support Malaysia’s sustainable future, powered by expertise, innovation, and a dedication to clean energy.
