Pipper Standard continued to support vulnerable communities in Thailand by donating hundreds of face masks and cleaning products to meet critical needs, as society continues to grapple with the Covid-19 pandemic. This follows the donation initiative by the company in April 2020 to small country side hospitals to help address potential mask shortages and provide safe washing detergents for frontline medical workers who continue to serve in the face of adversity to protect us.
Throughout the month of May, Pipper Standard donated products to the blind and visually impaired community, orphanages, villages affected by forest fires and garbage collectors. Aside from frontline medical workers, these groups of people are also vulnerable due to disabilities, lack of facilities and nature of work.
Pipper Standard distributed 42 bottles of the natural liquid hand soap, 84 pieces of cotton face masks and 20 bottles of Isopropyl alcohol to The Christian Foundation for the Blind in Thailand and School for the Blind Nakhon Ratchasima.
“Members of the blind and visually impaired community heavily rely on their hands in specific situations and for touch perception. Therefore, it’s imperative that they have sufficient products to clean their hands and reduce the risk of getting infected by Covid-19,” said Pipper Standard Co-Founder and Managing Director, Ms. Sirilak Narongtanupone.
Additionally, the company donated five bottles of the hand soap together with a one-gallon refill bottle, 12 bottles each of floor cleaners and stain removers, and 10 bottles of Isopropyl alcohol to Pattaya Orphanage, Bandek-on Orphanage Rangsit and Bann Fuengfah (home for disabled children).
“It is well-known that many orphanages are struggling to cope with the needs for children under their care and the pandemic just made their situation a lot harder. It’s crucial for these homes to have adequate cleaning products to keep their children safe,” added Ms. Sirilak
Another matter of concern is the recent forest fires that ravaged Chiang Mai. It caused severe pollution and excessive environmental damage, affecting the health of thousands of people, especially those in villages and at the frontline battling the fires.
Pipper Standard engaged with the Northern Development Foundation – a non-profit organization that looks out for the wellbeing of villages in the surrounding areas – to donate 42 bottles of liquid hand soap and 300 cotton face masks. The foundation will proceed to hand out the items to 15 villages that are hit hardest by the fires.
One of the most vulnerable groups of people whose selfless contribution continues to keep our streets and neighborhoods clean are garbage collectors. Sanitation work is an essential service with garbage collectors dealing with more trash than usual due to society staying home during the pandemic. They are largely exposed to viruses, germs and other forms of contamination.
To ensure that they have adequate protection while carrying out their duties, Pipper Standard worked with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administrator (Minburi) to supply 500 cotton face masks and 30 bottles of Isopropyl alcohol to garbage collectors.
“We hope that our contribution will help increase protection for these dedicated individuals who continue to carry out their duties despite the health risks. We are aware of the difficulties they face in the course of their work and will continue doing our best to support them,” Ms. Sirilak concluded.
