APAC/SG, 9 December 2024 – TinderⓇ, the iconic dating app that reshaped modern connections, has brought its Passport™ feature to life with an exciting real-time activation. Aptly named “Tinder Passport: Teleport to Another City”, the campaign streams live between Bangkok’s bustling Siam Square and Ho Chi Minh City’s iconic Landmark 81. The initiative, running from December 6–8, offers a unique opportunity for singles to forge meaningful connections across borders.
Gen Z Leads the Way in Redefining Relationships
Recent insights reveal a paradigm shift in dating preferences among Asia-Pacific’s youth. An impressive 67% of singles are open to starting relationships with someone in another country. Additionally, 87% express a desire to make friends before visiting new travel destinations. Tinder’s Solo Traveler’s Guide to Tinder Passport™ serves as a useful companion, offering tips to navigate travel safely while fostering global connections.
“Tinder is all about sparking new connections and creating meaningful experiences, and our latest experiential activation takes that mission to the next level. By connecting two vibrant cities in Asia, we’re giving people a unique opportunity to break the ice, meet new people, and explore the potential for real-life connections across borders similar to our Passport™ feature in the Tinder app. Whether it’s finding a new friend, travel buddy, or something more, Tinder and this campaign is designed to be a fun and innovative experience on bringing people together,” shares Daniel Kim, VP APAC Marketing, Tinder.

How the Live Experience Works
The activation creates an engaging environment, replicating the Passport™ feature’s essence in the physical world.
- Starting the Conversation
- When idle, the portal screen shows a live feed of the other city.
- When both sides are active, users can hit “Start connecting” to initiate their interaction.
- Facilitating Interaction
- Conversations last up to five minutes, supported by random prompts to break the ice.
- After 30 seconds, users can either opt-out or send a match request.
- Finding New Connections
- At the end of the session, participants can scan a QR code to download Tinder and continue exploring global connections.
What’s Next?
The campaign, which launched in Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh City, is set to expand to other major Asian cities in 2025. This activation underscores Tinder’s commitment to fostering inclusive, borderless relationships in a digitally interconnected world.
