Kuala Lumpur, 26 July 2024 – In a strategic move at the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow, Vietjet has announced pivotal agreements with aerospace giants Rolls-Royce and Lufthansa Technik. These partnerships highlight Vietjet’s dedication to sustainability and operational excellence as the airline continues to expand its fleet and global presence.
Rolls-Royce Deal for A330neo Engines
Vietjet’s landmark agreement with Rolls-Royce includes the acquisition of 40 Trent 7000 engines, alongside the comprehensive TotalCare engine service, for its 20 newly-ordered Airbus A330neo aircraft. The Trent 7000, renowned for its advanced environmental features, promises a 14% improvement in fuel burn per seat, significantly reducing CO2 emissions by over 100,000 tons per aircraft over its lifetime.
Dinh Viet Phuong, Vietjet’s CEO, stated, “The combination of modern Trent 7000 engines on the newest generation of Airbus A330neo, supported by premium service TotalCare, will help Vietjet Air reach new technological heights, significantly enhance the quality of our flights, and increase the reliability and efficiency of our operations. Specifically, the addition of the newest generation, high-efficiency Rolls-Royce engines aligns with Vietjet’s sustainable development strategy, with its ESG goals to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.”
Exclusive Total Component Support with Lufthansa Technik
In addition, Vietjet has secured an exclusive Total Component Support (TCS) agreement with Lufthansa Technik, set to commence in October 2024. This comprehensive agreement will provide extensive component services for Vietjet’s fleet, ensuring high maintenance standards and operational excellence. This contract is notably the largest TCS deal Lufthansa Technik has secured in Southeast Asia.
