5 Ways You Treated Yourself Unfairly Unknowingly

Fact, we can’t control everything that’s happening around us.

Fact: We can’t control everything that’s happening around us. And that is why when things don’t go as planned, we feel overwhelmed and fail to consider our own well-being as we struggle to decide about what’s best for us.  The thing is, when that happens, we come up with decisions which may seem to be fair for everyone else involved, but not exactly to ourselves. 

Yup, those are blind spots.

Time to open your eyes towards them as you treat yourself with a little more kindness, understanding and love. You truly deserve that. So allow me to share with you the 5 ways you treated yourself unfairly unknowingly and how you can make up for each accordingly. 

  1. When You Gave Up. When was the last time you just threw in the towel while pursuing your passion? Giving up was the easy way out. It can be the most feasible option too during that time when everything was challenging. But think about it: will escaping allow you to fulfill your greatest goals? How to deal with it: Pause. Reflect. Remember why you started. Remind yourself all the things you love about what you do. And focus on what you really want to be. Anchor on your purpose. That will keep you going. 
  1. When You Played The Blame Game. It’s easier to point fingers than take responsibility for things that have gone wrong. However, whether you choose to blame yourself or others, it won’t solve the situation on hand. It will only divert the attention from what really matters most.  How to deal with it: Own up to it. What is under your control that will allow you to rise above the situation as you come from a space of self-responsibility instead? Know that it starts by choosing to take the lead instead of the back seat. 
  1. When You Lost Your Drive. It’s a long and winding journey towards the top. Losing your inspiration won’t do you any good though. In fact, it will make you feel as if what you’ve accomplished does not matter at all. And seriously, that’s not the case. How to deal with it:  Reflect on how far you’ve gone. Be intentional about looking for inspiration along the way. Don’t base your happiness on the big goals alone; celebrate your little milestones in between. It’s all about enjoying the journey as you learn and grow from it.
  1. When You Refused To Adapt. Change is inevitable. Every time you face it with resistance you hold back your own progress and prevent yourself from getting what you deserve in life.  How to deal with it: Come from a space of honesty. Be humble enough to start all over again and open yourself up to wonderful possibilities. Out with the old, in with the new. As simple as that. By being willing to let go of the things, habits, situations and people which no longer serve their purpose, you allow yourself to make room as you adjust accordingly and fit in the now.
  1. When You Did Not Trust Yourself. Over thinking leads to second guessing yourself. And that is one of the biggest forms of disrespect you can give to yourself: by questioning your own self worth just because things didn’t go as planned.  How to deal with it: Believe in yourself more. Know that you have what it takes to succeed. Recognize patterns of success in your life before. Be inspired by them. And apply the learnings as you face today’s challenges confidently and securely from within. 

At the end of the day, like they say, all is fair in love and war. And that gives more reasons for you to be fair to yourself, first and foremost.
