Why Quitting Is Not An Option, With Mark Esmana

Mark mentioned 4 things that kept him going, and why really believes quitting the online industry is not an option

Earlier this week, I recorded my podcast number 3, and I am so excited to share this with you because in this episode, we talked about why quitting is NOT an option!

A lot of people today are thinking about quitting. Some are quitting their jobs, relationships, and goals because it’s the easy way out rather than keep yourself together and find a way to make it work. Guilty? So am I.

Quitting used to be my mantra in life. If things aren’t working out, QUIT. I’ve quit my job so many times I can no longer count the companies I worked with. I’ve been studying since I was seventeen and I can’t even remember the different reasons why I FIRED my boss. Haha!

Kidding aside, I myself had this habit a long time ago and I can’t blame you if you’re feeling the same way at the moment. It took me a while before I realized what will keep me from quitting.

You see, when you love what you do, you don’t feel like working. You feel empowered. You feel you’re doing your purpose and you have a deeper meaning for what you’re doing.

My podcast guest speaker, Mark Esmana is a Branding Development Consultant and Digital Skills Trainer. He also had to win the temptation of quitting when he started as a Social Media Specialist until he found a community.

He saw that others are undergoing the same struggles as he was at that time and felt that he can’t quit yet because he still needs to do something more valuable.

Mark loves to train, has a passion for entrepreneurship and agriculture and he wants to pursue all these because he believes that he can so he continued to sharpen not only his technical skills but his people skills as well, leading him to become not just a digital educator but an influencer as well.

In our discussion, Mark mentioned 4 things that kept him going, and why really believes quitting the online industry is not an option.

My 4 Takeaways in this Episode

  1. Mindset – because everybody will say YES in the beginning, until they face fear, rejection, and frustrations. Once these feelings set in, more people quit. Until only the committed stays. Are you committed to staying?
  2. Support – whether it’s your family, friends or life partner, we all need this. Without the special push from someone very dear to you, we are all vulnerable to quitting. Look around you. Who are your top 5 supporters? If you can name at least 5, you’re safe. You can keep moving forward, just like Mark and me.
  3. Tools/Technology – in the online industry, we can NEVER continue the fight without our weapons. A stable internet connection and an up to date laptop or desktop computer is what we all need to deliver. This may be basic but I know, this is not easy to provide for some. I can remember when we have to move to the city, four hours from home just to get a decent internet connection.
  4. Resilience – what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger. I always tell this to my daughter and I am the kind of person that gets up when wounded. I like fighting when challenged and is already down. I believe there’s more reason to keep fighting when you’re on the losing side. There’s no fun in always winning, right? So, when you’re feeling down, think of it as a challenge that you need to win. Someone else out there is bigger than our challenges and He always gives what’s best for us.

So, next time you’ll feel like quitting, just say, “I have someone more powerful than you on my side”, then keep moving.
